About the Internship

The Security Operations Department is looking for an intern to join their World Trade Center Security team! The mission of the Security Operations Department (SOD) is to develop, manage, and implement civilian security programs and projects that preserve life and property and increase levels of protection. World Trade Center (WTC) Security is responsible for designing and managing a multi-layered security program for the protection of people and property throughout the entire 16-acre WTC campus. WTC Security serves as a resource for all security needs at the WTC and interfaces with various Port Authority partners and WTC stakeholders on an ongoing basis.

Responsibilities

  • Support various security technology systems and software applications

  • Work with video management systems, video analytics systems, and access control systems

  • Assess system performance, documenting results, and presenting findings

  • This position supports a physical security program, not a cybersecurity program

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship

  • Major in Security Management, Emergency Management, Homeland Security, or related discipline

Desired Qualifications

  • Proficiency with computers and digital technology platforms

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Knowledge of designing and managing digital records

  • Knowledge of physical security systems and technology (CCTV, access control, etc.)

  • Familiarity with physical security software applications and platforms

Internship Details

  • The start date will be Thursday, May 28, 2026

  • The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 21, 2026

  • This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)

  • In accordance with Port Authority policy, this position permits interns to work remotely a maximum of one day per week. In person collaboration is essential to how the Port Authority conducts business and regular in-office days, or team collaboration days may be required depending on business needs. Some internships may require interns to be fully in-person.

Compensation & Benefits

  • The hourly rate range is $18.07 to $30.31 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
