Job Description

As a Christian, faith-based organization, all youth mentors at Agape Acres must agree with and sign a Statement of Christian Faith before applying for this role.

The Youth Mentor will work with the program director to conduct pre-assessments with parents/ caregivers and identify challenges and opportunities for growth for youth within our equine-assisted mentoring program.  The Youth Mentor would be responsible for creating both short-term and long-term goals that youth will work on with their mentor during their time at Agape Acres to help youth transition toward healthy adulthood.  

The Youth Mentor will be required to complete online trauma informed training (paid for by Agape Acres), as well as on-site training to prepare them for this role. The Youth Mentor may be assigned up to 5 youth to ineract with and mentor at Agape Acres. Each mentor session takes place at the farm and is one-on-one with the child. At the completion of each session, the Youth Mentor is responsible to notate, in the child's activity log, notes from the day's session and any progress toward short term or long term goals.

Please note, the Youth Mentor will be helping the mentee interact with horses and other animals. No horse experience is necessary, however, this is an outdoor farm environment (in nature with bugs, dust, etc.).
