Job Description
The University Transfer Center at UNC Charlotte supports transfer and post-traditional undergraduate students by offering pre-transfer advising, transition support, and advocacy to promote student success. With a team of six academic advisors, the Center collaborates with campus and community college partners to equip students with the resources and guidance needed to navigate their academic paths and achieve timely graduation.
The Project
This project will evaluate the current University Transfer Center website and propose improvements to enhance its navigation and user experience. Deliverables include a redesigned site map, mock-ups of key web pages such as the homepage and resource page, and written recommendations for layout, calls-to-action, and student-centered content. The work will help streamline access to services and information for transfer and adult students.
Learning Experience
The student will gain practical experience in UX design, navigation planning, and website strategy. They will apply user-centered design principles to improve content organization and build visual prototypes, which can be included in a professional portfolio for future roles in web development or UX design.
Outcomes
Redesigned site map and navigation structure
Visual mock-ups of at least 3 key web pages
Written UX recommendations, including layout and content suggestions
Optional usability tips or content strategy guidance
