Job Description

SUMMARY

Tends a drive thru to receive, sort and price merchandise and keeps building and grounds clean at a retail outlet and donation processing center by performing the following duties. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES are listed below in order of importance, from most important to least important.

  • Provides Customer Service by greeting donors, unloads donations from their vehicle upon request, and provides donor with a donation receipt.
  • Separates clothing and non-clothing items and places in appropriate locations.
  • Works overflow trailers to provide product for the store.
  • Inspects all donations for safety standards.
  • Prices merchandise at the direction of Store Management staff and moves merchandise from the processing area to the sales floor, merchandising using SOP guidelines. 
  • Accurately documents donor numbers as they arrive.
  • Empties wastebaskets and picks up trash from sales floor and store grounds.  Transports trash to compactor as needed.
  • Cleans restrooms, break rooms, office and work area. Replenishes bathroom and cleaning supplies as needed. Sweeps and mops floors and vacuums carpets.
  • Removes shopping carts from the store grounds and returns to inside of store.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned by store management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

No prior experience or training.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and write English and comprehend simple instructions.  Ability to effectively present basic information in one-on-one situations to donors, customers and other team members of the organization using tact, courtesy and cooperativeness.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to perform basic addition and subtraction. 

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to carry out simple written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must have access to reliable transportation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly (more than 2/3 of the day) required to stand or walk; hear; use hands to finger, handle or feel.  The team member frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the day) is required to talk; reach with hands and arms; turn and twist body; bend, stoop or kneel; push or pull.  The team member must occasionally (less than 1/3 of the day) climb or balance.  The team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions and dust.  The team member is occasionally exposed to fumes or odors and extreme cold or heat (non-weather).  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
