Job Description

This temporary position with the North Carolina Banking Commission located at 3100 Smoketree Court, Suite 1100, Raleigh, Wake County

Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $17.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).  

DETAILS:

The NC Commissioner of Banks office (NCCOB) is responsible for the chartering and regulation of North Carolina's state banks, trust companies, mortgage companies, as well as registration and licensing of various financial institutions operating in North Carolina.  Our mission is to promote and maintain the strength and fairness of the North Carolina financial services marketplace through the supervision and regulation of financial service providers in that marketplace.

NCCOB is seeking (2) Summer Interns.

Internship Period: Monday May 18 - Thursday, July 23, 2026

Workdays/Hours: Monday – Thursday 8-hour days (32 hrs per week)

                              Travel week(s) (TBD) may be M-Th 10-hour days (40 hrs per week)

JOB DUTIES Include:

* Introduction to bank earnings
* Conduct review and assessment of Consolidated Reports of Condition and Income
* Review Bank Capital
* Prepare workpapers on policies and procedures
* CALL Report spreading
* Gathering, organizing, and analyzing financial institution data and industry information. 
* Interns will work directly with teams of experienced NCCOB employees to gather, organize, and analyze financial institution data and industry information.  * They will gain knowledge of financial industry laws and regulations, industry standards, and best practices. They should exercise sound judgment, which is developed through training and experience and work in a team environment and should be able to adapt to changing circumstances. These positions involve the regulation of commercial banks, savings banks, holding companies, subsidiaries, and other affiliates. 


ELIGIBILITY:

* Rising college senior attending an institution of higher education
* Majors desired: Finance, Banking, Economics, Accounting, Business Admin
* Minimum of (2) accounting courses
* At least 18 years old
* Permanent resident of North Carolina
* 3.0 or higher GPA
* No sponsorships
* Clear credit and criminal background check
