Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Communications
- Read media content on issues of importance to IBAI, provide weekly updates to the IBAI team, and record the material into a tracking document; and
- Support the creation and design of social media posts.
- Advocacy & Research
- Read relevant Illinois-focused research reports and draft internal memorandum summarizing the pertinent information;
- Provide advocacy support onIBAI campaigns and to IBAI external partners;
- Join the advocacy team in attending relevant meetings and events;
- Work with the IBAI team, advocates, organizers, and activists to coordinate and build out meaningful political education for allies and colleagues; and
- Connect and coordinate logistics such as: access, zoom set ups, email lists, invoicing, etc.
- Administrative
- Support the maintenance of IBAI’s network activation lists; and
- Support the rapid growth of IBAI’s external network of partner organizations and advocacy groups. .
QUALIFICATIONS (not all are required)
- A commitment to social justice, equity, and Black liberation;
- Strong writing skills;
- Ability to read and synthesize media and communicate effectively to others in social media formats, such as Instagram, X, and Facebook
- Ability to respond timely to the pertinent needs of the organization; and
- Knowledge of Canva, Microsoft Suite, and Google Suite.
