Logistics Sales Coordinator

Job Summary

The Logistics Sales Coordinator is a dynamic, results-driven role responsible for driving new business development by securing freight from new customers while simultaneously supporting carrier operations for existing and new lanes. This individual acts as a critical link between customer needs, sales strategy, and operational execution, ensuring both profitable revenue growth and reliable carrier service coverage.

Key Responsibilities

  • New Business Development & Sales (Approx. 60%)
  • Prospecting and Outreach: Proactively identify, cold call, and email potential customers to introduce our logistics services (LTL, FTL, Intermodal, etc.) and secure new shipping opportunities.

Quote Generation & Negotiation: Prepare, present, and negotiate competitive freight quotes and service proposals to prospective customers, focusing on maximizing profit margins.

Account Acquisition: Own the full sales cycle from initial contact to securing the first load and onboarding the new customer.

Pipeline Management: Maintain and manage a robust sales pipeline using the company's CRM, accurately forecasting sales opportunities and reporting on progress.

Market Analysis: Stay informed on market trends, competitor activities, and freight rate fluctuations to adjust sales strategies accordingly.

  • Carrier Coverage & Operations Support (Approx. 40%)
  •

Sourcing and Procurement: Proactively source, negotiate, and book trucks with qualified carrier partners for customer loads, ensuring on-time pickup and delivery performance.

Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong working relationships with an established network of core carriers and continuously onboard new, reliable transportation providers.

Load Management: Track shipments from pickup to delivery, providing proactive communication to sales, operations, and, occasionally, the customer regarding any delays or issues.

Conflict Resolution: Quickly and effectively resolve issues that arise during transit, such as service failures, accessorial charges, or scheduling conflicts.

Rate Confirmation: Accurately enter and verify load details, rates, and requirements into the transportation management system (TMS) and issue rate confirmations to carriers.

    Skills & Competencies

Exceptional Communication: Strong cold-calling skills and the ability to articulate value propositions clearly and persuasively, both verbally and in writing.

Negotiation Proficiency: Proven ability to negotiate freight rates effectively with both customers (high margin) and carriers (low cost).

Goal-Oriented: Highly motivated and competitive with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales and operational performance metrics.

Multitasking & Prioritization: Ability to manage a high volume of simultaneous tasks, balancing the demands of customer acquisition and urgent operational coverage.

Technical Savvy: Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS) and customer relationship management (CRM) software.
