Job Description
The Communications Intern will work with Office of Sustainability staff, specifically the Communications and Staff Engagement Coordinator, to assist with developing strategic communications materials for the Office. This will include assisting with the development of an Office Communications Plan and branding guidelines, creating promotional materials for programs, events, and initiatives, developing presentations and tours for campus audiences, assisting with website design, and writing articles about various initiatives led by the Office of Sustainability.
The Communications Intern should have a strong background in written and verbal communications, graphic design, marketing, and strategic communications. The Intern should have a basic understanding of sustainability concepts and initiatives at UNC Charlotte, be a quick learner, have a strong work ethic, and be willing to adapt to changes quickly. They should be a team player and be willing to help in other areas of office work as needed, depending on the time of year and the needs of the office.
Required skills:
- Familiarity with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms)
- Familiarity with WordPress
- Familiarity with graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator)
- Ability to communicate complex topics to diverse audiences
- Familiarity with branding and marketing tools at UNC Charlotte
- Availability to work up to 10 hours per week in an office environment
Preferred skills/experience:
- Interest in sustainability and/or environmental sustainability concepts
- Sophomore, Junior, or Senior
All UNC Charlotte undergraduate students must apply even if previously employed by the Office of Sustainability.
