Position: Summer Internship Program - Fuel Efficiency and Decarbonization Analysis Intern
Location: Hybrid in Miami, Florida
Dates: May 12th - July 25th, 2025

Key Details:

Hybrid Program: This internship is a hybrid program based in Miami, Florida. Students must be available for the entire duration of the program and willing to work a hybrid schedule, combining both in-office and remote work. This is a full-time opportunity, with interns working 40 hours per week. While hours may vary, interns can expect to work from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.

Relocation Support: Carnival provides housing for interns who are relocating to Miami for the summer.

Eligibility: Juniors, seniors, and graduate students are preferred for the program.

Technical Requirements: Interns will be provided with a company-issued laptop and will need reliable internet when working remotely.

Department Summary:
The Fuel & Decarbonization team at Carnival Cruise Line focuses on improving fuel efficiency and reducing the carbon footprint of our fleet. By implementing strategies such as voyage efficiency, fuel forecasting, and optimizing service power, our team plays a critical role in Carnival's sustainability efforts. We aim to enhance fuel usage and develop decarbonization initiatives that ensure compliance with global environmental regulations while supporting the company's long-term goal of sustainable cruising.
Internship Project Summary:
Project Title:
Fuel Efficiency and Decarbonization Analysis
Objective:
The intern will work on a 10-week project focused on a key area within the Fuel & Decarbonization team. The project will involve an in-depth analysis of one of the functional areas such as voyage efficiency, service power optimization, or fuel forecasting. The goal is to identify opportunities for enhanced fuel efficiency or decarbonization, yielding actionable insights that can be leveraged to further Carnival's sustainability goals.
Essential Functions:

Conduct detailed analysis on fuel efficiency and decarbonization strategies for Carnival's fleet.

Work with large data sets to extract meaningful insights, using tools like Microsoft Power BI or Python.

Develop a final report with key findings and recommendations that align with Carnival's sustainability and decarbonization objectives.

Collaborate with the Fuel & Decarbonization team and learn about other areas of maritime decarbonization and technical operations.

Present findings to the team and senior management at the end of the project.
Specific Qualifications:

Academic Background: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's (Junior or Senior) or Master's program (preferred) in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Skills: Strong analytical and research skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and experience with Python or Microsoft Power BI.

Preferred Experience: Knowledge of marine/mechanical engineering or hydrodynamics concepts, with an interest in fuel efficiency and decarbonization initiatives.

Additional Qualities: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, strong communication skills, and excellent organizational abilities.
