Job Description
The Department of Earth, Environmental and Geographical Sciences is comprised of physical, natural and social scientists from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds. Our mission is to create, extend and disseminate applied and theoretical scientific knowledge of the Earth’s physical, natural and human systems and their interactions through scholarly research, teaching and service.
The Project
The Assistant will observe and maintain field stations deployed for the Redlair Observatory in Gastonia, regularly download data, troubleshoot sensors and dataloggers on site, and maintain and organize the databases for the Observatory.
Learning Experience
Student will get hands on experience with research grade field data collection and/or analyses, including Monitoring weather equipment maintenance and operation. Database maintenance and organization. Some equipment design and construction could be possible.
Outcomes
Student must have own transportation. They will regularly (every other week) onduct checks and maintenance of equipment and download on site. Communicate any issues. Work efficiently and accurately on database management.
