Organization Profile
The Matthews Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC) is a dynamic organization dedicated to supporting local businesses and fostering economic growth in the Matthews community. With over 300 members, MACC provides networking opportunities, business education, advocacy, and community engagement initiatives. As we celebrate our 45th anniversary, we continue to innovate and expand our outreach through strategic marketing efforts, including a strong social media presence.
Internship Description
The Social Media Marketing Intern will gain hands-on experience in digital marketing, content creation, and community engagement. The intern will assist in developing and executing social media campaigns, creating graphics and videos, writing engaging posts, and analyzing social media performance. The intern will also help promote major events, including the Fall for Matthews festival, 34th Annual Auto Reunion & Motorcycle Show, Business After Hours, Young Professionals events, and more.

Hybrid – Matthews Area Chamber of Commerce Office

Interns will be expected to work in person at least two days per week to attend meetings, collaborate with the team, and cover live events. Some tasks, such as content scheduling and analytics reporting, may be completed remotely.
Preferred Student Demographic & Qualifications
- College sophomore/junior in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field
- Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok)
- Strong writing and graphic design skills (Canva or Adobe Creative Suite preferred)
- Familiarity with video editing tools and content planning software is a plus
- Self-motivated with excellent time management skills
- Passion for community engagement and local business development
