Interested in spending a semester in Washington, D.C.? Learn about internships, academic programs, short-term experiences, application deadlines, and scholarships through The Washington Center (TWC) at this in-person information session.
Charlotte students from all majors can gain professional experience, earn academic credit, and explore opportunities with government agencies, nonprofits, media organizations, and more.

Join us to learn about:

• Spring and Summer 2027 internship opportunities;


• The Inside Washington Seminar in January 2027;


• The Cybersecurity Accelerator Program in March 2027; and


• The National Security Seminar in May 2027.

Academic Credit
Charlotte students can receive up to 15 hours of academic credit (fall/spring semester) or 12 hours in summer semester from UNC Charlotte for completion of a TWC semester. TWC has housing available in DC.
Scholarships Available
In partnership with TWC, the state of North Carolina is now providing scholarships for college students from North Carolina to participate in TWC’s internships and academic program ($9-11,000). State Scholarships. TWC has some scholarship assistance available Private Scholarships. North Carolina state scholarships up to $2,500 are available for for the short-term experiences, as well.

About The Washington Center
The Washington Center (TWC) has provided Washington semester experiences since the 1960s. Their core activity is a semester-long internship, college class, and professional development program. TWC places students in prestigious Washington internships, ranging from government agencies (U.S. Congress), international organizations and non-governmental organizations (foreign embassies and trade associations), to national and cybersecurity (Department of Homeland Security), law and lobbying firms, media and public relations organizations, and the DC business community Internships. Roughly 70% percent of TWC internships include some financial compensation such as a stipend or transportation support.
