About BMW Manufacturing
BMW Manufacturing in Spartanburg is the first full assembly plant outside of Germany and employs 11,000 people at its eight million square-foot campus. The Spartanburg plant assembles the BMW X3, X4, X5, X6, X7, and XM Sports Activity Vehicles and Coupes and their variants and is the United States' largest exporter in value, exporting 225,000 vehicles to 120 global markets last year. Now more than 30 years later, the BMW Group has invested nearly 13.3 billion, and the plant has gone through six major expansions. The seventh major expansion is a $1.7 billion investment to prepare the plant for the assembly of electric vehicles and to build a high-voltage battery assembly plant in Woodruff, South Carolina.
