Alston & Bird, which has been in the top 100 places to work in the US for over 20 straight years, is looking for engineering and computer science students for our Patent Agent Internship Program (PAIP). The goal of the PAIP is to introduce technically savvy students to the field of patents and intellectual property, and to eventually hire those students full-time after graduation to become Patent Agents. The PAIP aims to be part-time during the spring semester and full-time through the summer, but has some degree of flexibility.
Alston and Bird has an internationally renowned Intellectual Property practice that works with clients from all technical fields. All of our patent practitioners have engineering or computer science backgrounds to understand the complex and technically challenging inventions that we work with. We work with the engineers on the cutting edge of technology in every field imaginable. Patent Engineers work with inventors to understand their inventions, draft patent applications directed to the inventions, and prosecute those patent applications before the US Patent and Trademark Office to obtain patents that can be invaluable to the client.
Candidates should have a strong technical aptitude, good communication and writing skills, and the desire to learn from the inventors we work with.
